Faith Development Ministries
Helping People to Know Jesus
Hanka and Graeme Scott
The Full Story
FDM (Faith Development Ministries) was founded in 1992 by Graeme & Hanka Scott, (currently parishioners at the Catholic Cathedral Parish of Christchurch in Christchurch NZ) while living in the UK to encourage Christians in their spiritual growth. During that time they were involved with various church ministries.
In 1994 they attended an Alpha Conference at Holy Trinity Brompton in London. It introduced them to a simple but very effective, non-threatening and exciting way of presenting the Gospel of Christ to non-Christians. They started running Alpha Courses. They ran the first Alpha Course in a Catholic church in the south of England.
On their return to NZ in 1996 they were appointed Alpha Advisors for the Canterbury region and they introduced Alpha to the Catholic churches in Christchurch by running a course for representatives from different parishes.
They became involved with Catholic Evangelisation Services in the UK and have seen from the beginning the development of the CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration) programme. CaFE is a process with huge potential, which aims to create discipleship, community and evangelisation both on a personal and parish level.
They are available to speak to parish groups to advise on the best ways to introduce and use the CaFE and Alpha resources to achieve maximum results. As new resources develop they will make them available to the churches.
Other services they offer are weekly online courses on Zoom. Faith development is a lifetime process and is as necessary to our soul as food and drink are to our bodies.

Our Faith
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. And one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
